At RDIT we love to feature photos in our articles. We especially like photos of the teams and skaters we discuss so it’s important for us to have photos on hand while writing. Do you have a derby gallery we can pull from? We’d love to take a look!
RDIT is a not-for-profit and not-profiting venture; no money changes hands in the production of our content or execution of our website. We do not purchase media or content for our site. All content- including photographs- is contributed at will for free by the creator.
If you’d like to contribute media (photos, video, graphics, art, etc.) to our website and agree to the terms below, please contact us.
All media rights are protected first and foremost by their original copyright. This agreement is held in addition to that copyright and extends only to the relationship between RDIT and the contributor.
On-Call Media Contributor Agreement
In order to maintain on-demand access to media for use in our articles, we’ve developed the following agreement. The idea is to build a list of available media sources and skip the back-and-forth of agreement each time we wish to use that media in our stories. Media creators who agree to these terms go on our writers’ list of pre-approved providers they use to find media for their stories.
1. Attribution
We want you to get the credit!
RDIT does our best to provide full and accurate credit to all contributors. Attribution may appear in the form of the artist’s name, pseudonym, or link to web presence (eg: Flickr gallery link).
RDIT actively provides attribution in the following methods:
- Photographer’s name in photo caption
- Photographers named in article footnote
In addition, RDIT maintains passive attribution through our Photo & Media Contributors page(s).
2. Modification & Derivatives
We wont change your work!
RDIT does not intentionally modify media to obscure the source or creator. RDIT does modify media to fit our web format/layout (such as resizing and cropping images to fit the allotted space). Creator’s marks (such as a photographer’s watermark) may be incidentally obscured or removed in order to fit the media but will never be intentionally or unnecessarily removed.
Media may be modified and used in RDIT story-based content such as graphics and featured images. This does not include RDIT promotional or branding material.
3. Profiting & Compensation
We don’t make money! (But if we did, you’d get a cut.)
RDIT is a non-commercial, non-profiting enterprise. We make no money from our content or website. Media contributed under this agreement will never be utilized for commercial purposes.
Use of media for commercial purposes would be governed by another, separate agreement with express consent of the creator.
4. Time, Change, and Termination
You’re free to go any time! (Time may change me, but I can’t change time.)
This contributor agreement has no start or end date or term limits. A contributor’s entry into this agreement begins on the day the individual submits interest and ends on the day they express a wish to terminate.
You may opt out of this contributor agreement at any time by contacting RDIT and expressing your wish to discontinue your offer to contribute. Your media and contributions used in our publications during the time of your contribution will remain in use unless an agreement is made to remove your media from our website (removal may take weeks or months depending on editor availability and review process).
This contributor agreement is subject to change. RDIT will do our best to notify all contributors every time changes are made to this agreement. We will not knowingly change the terms of your contribution without attempting to notify you. All contributors are subject to the most current agreement- no special cases for any contributor.
All content and agreements herein are subject to the website’s Terms of Use.
